Wow! Almost There!
This is a longer update than others, but I hope you get some good info below.
The last several weeks have been a whirlwind! Between finalizing legal and financial paperwork for the imprint (Pleroma Press) and getting fully set up on Ingram, KDP, and others, I'm finally at the point most of you already know about: preorders are live! THANK YOU so, so much if you’ve already submitted a preorder. While the preorder initially had a vague Fall 2026 release window, I’ve narrowed it down to 22 September 2026!
A quick note on pricing:
First—thank you so much for your support. It’s no small ask to spend your hard-earned coins on a book.
For the preorder, I’ve priced the book at $5.00 less than MSRP when I’m fully launched.
Preorder:
$20 Paperback / $30 Hardcover
Post-launch:
$25 Paperback / $35 Hardcover
So if you didn’t add any personalization (signature & brief note), you’re saving a few bucks by preordering. If you did select personalization, you’re back up to the $25/$35 post-launch pricing. So in a way, it’s hopefully a net-net wash. (I had a few folks ask why I was charging for a signature, so I thought it would be worth a quick clarification).
Second—print costs for a small operator like me are pretty high, so I have to price a little higher than what you’re maybe used to seeing. Whenever I browse titles at Target and see $15.99 - $19.99 for a paperback I get a little worried about my own pricing. But, I hope you know that I tried to keep things “reasonably” within range of titles in this category (longer page count, genre, indie operator, etc.).
Third—supporting indie authors via their D2C (direct-to-consumer) channel is the best way especially in the early stages of their journey. I don’t expect to recuperate any of my developmental costs over the last 18 months, but moving forward I’m trying to bank these small earnings to help fund my future series titles (like Book II which I started on this month!)
Fourth—I’m working on my Amazon listings. If you stumble upon the live listing, please do not order either the paperback or hardcover from Amazon right now. They made a mistake and pulled my Ingram data before I could submit my own KDP listing for it. In that error, they put the hardcover as a live, purchasable copy. I have asked Ingram to pull my title from expanded distribution because something between Amazon and Ingram’s API pulled incorrectly and it went live when it should have.
I value transparency and wanted to ask that of you directly. Ingram and Amazon's systems don't always talk to each other cleanly, and fixing it as a small press takes patience. So while I wait for that, I do want to share that you can, however, pre-order the ebook just fine on Kindle. That one did get set up correctly!
If you haven’t purchased your copy yet, that’s okay too. The fact that you’re following me along on this journey is plenty of love.
On an unrelated note, I’ve also been trying to be more active on my Instagram account to try and grow that following. If you’ve laughed or cringed at any of my content, don’t worry, I laughed and cringed even harder making the videos.
For those of you that are local and wanting to go to the launch event to pick up your preorder and celebrate the book, I’ll be hosting a small gathering at a local indie bookshop on 26 September 2026. If you’ve indicated “launch event pickup” for your fulfillment option, I’ll send you an evite shortly with details as I solidify terms with the bookshop.
Oh, and one more thing—
I’ve partnered with an audiobook narrator who will start production tomorrow! Per our estimates, we will have the audiobook ready by launch. So, for those of you who like to listen along, I would ask you once more to spare some coins and help support an indie author & indie narrator.
